ao.Univ.Prof. Dr. Walter Keller Institut für Molekulare Biowissenschaften Karl Franzens Universität Humboldtstraße 50/3 A-8010 Graz phone: +43 316 380 5423 FAX: +43 316 380 9897 e-mail: walter.keller@uni-graz.at web: http://strubi.uni-graz.at/     I am a university teacher  for Structural Biology at the Insitute of Chemistry.  During my PostDoc studies at Purdue University (Indiana, USA) and ETH-Zürich (Switzerland) I have been involved in the structure determination of spherical viruses, the HIV-capsid protein and a transcription factor-DNA complex. After returning to the Structural Biology Group at the KF-University of Graz I established several lines of research: the first projects had the aim of  investigating the structure and function of  proteins involved in bacterial conjugation and plasmid stabilization, in a recently granted project we investigate the structure of  a S-layer protein from G. stearothermophilus, and since appr. 5 years we have been involved in the characterization of  allergens by X-ray crystallography and biophysical methods in the framework of  an SFB based at the Medical University Vienna.
